About Garnet Hill Lodge
Nestled in the mountains of upstate New York, near the Hudson River and Gore Mountain, Garnet Hill Lodge is a four-season Adirondack hotel and resort. In the winter, we’re a premiere center for Adirondack cross country skiing and snowshoeing. In the spring, summer and fall we provide access to a wide range of warm weather activities including hiking, swimming, paddling, mountain biking, whitewater rafting and a host of local attractions. Year round the lodge and resort function as a unique event venue, with an outstanding restaurant, cozy pub, and beautiful grounds.
Overview
- Manage all aspects of Outdoor Center on year round basis
- Grow usage of Outdoor Center
- Responsible for maintaining profitability of Outdoor Center
- Be point person for guests with respect to all of the outdoor activities that Garnet Hill and the area offers
Responsibilities
- Manage all winter ski operations:
- Trail maintenance in preparation for ski season
- Grooming of ski trails during season maintaining Garnet Hill as one of the premier cross country ski destinations
- Overseeing the ski school to ensure that ski instruction is of the highest standard
- Equipment rentals ensuring high quality equipment and service
- Maintenance of grooming equipment
- Trail signage
- Manage mountain bike operations:
- Trail maintenance, including signage, mapping
- Bike rentals
- Manage beach and boats:
- Canoe and kayak rentals
- Beach attendants
- Facility supervision
- Organize hiking for guests:
- Recommending hikes to guests
- Guiding hikes
- Making maps and other hiking materials available to guests
- Managing Outdoor Center Retail Sales:
- Determine equipment to stock and sell
- Order stock
- Manage inventory
- Oversee sales process
- Organize events, races etc.
- Work with resort chef on offerings at Outdoor Center bar and grill
Required Skills
- Outdoor enthusiast and strong cross country skier
- Strong interpersonal skills - good manner with guests
- Strong management skills
- Computer skills: ability to learn and run point of sale system, use spreadsheets for reporting, post outdoor center activities and updates on Facebook and other social media
- Self motivated, decision maker
Salary
Negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
