Boating in Boston Profile
Company Description
About our Organization:
Originally founded in 2002, Boston Outdoor Recreation, Inc. was transformed by a group of friends that sprung from a shared passion for the water. Known as Boating In Boston, the company has a long history of practical operational experience running boating organizations and working with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation with a clear vision to provide boating access for everyone.
From kayak and canoe rentals, they branched out to sailing, summer camps, classes and boating season passes, bringing forth a community of water lovers. Together, they ran and opened boathouses around their New England homes.
After four years of continued success, the group set sail in search of new waters. In 2013, friends in Washington, DC reached out and they jumped at the opportunity, opening Key Bridge Boathouse, keeping the spirit of John 'Jack' Baxter alive by continuing his vision of public boat access on the Potomac River.
Currently, Boston Outdoor Recreation operates seven boathouses in the greater Boston area, and three locations in the Washington, DC area under the name Boating In DC. It has been an incredible experience thus far, and it's a great feeling for all of us to watch our team grow and be passionate about what we do.
We have day camps, lessons, rentals and season passes and enable over 200,000 people, regardless of their age or fitness, to enjoy the Boston and DC waters every season.
