Join the Highland Mountain Bike Park team as our Program Director and embark on a thrilling journey overseeing our action-packed summer camp programs! If you're passionate about mountain biking, mentoring youth, and creating unforgettable experiences, this role is tailor-made for you.

Position: Program Director
Location: Highland Mountain Bike Park, New Hampshire
Schedule: Full-time year-round (11-month schedule with one month off), including weekends during camp season (mid-June to mid-August)

Position Purpose:
As our Program Director, you'll be the mastermind behind the scenes, ensuring everything runs smoothly off the trails. From staff management and training to overseeing camper activities and maintaining communication with parents, your role is pivotal in creating a safe, fun, and enriching camp experience.

Responsibilities & Essential Job Function:

Staff Management & Development

  • Manage the recruitment process for all new staff members

  • Design, maintain, and conduct comprehensive training sessions for staff before camp commencement

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to counselors, fostering their development as influential leaders

  • Supervise staff in executing camp schedules, including transportation, meal times, and non-riding activities

  • Create and oversee counselor-led non-riding programming and activities for overnight campers

  • Conduct individual coaching sessions with team members

  • Delegate tasks efficiently to coordinators and counselors, ensuring smooth operations

  • Monitor and ensure all staff members fulfill their assigned duties

  • Foster a professional yet enjoyable work environment

Parent Communication

  • Manage the oversight of family/camper forms and processing procedures

  • Maintain professionalism in all communications with parents and legal guardians

  • Comfortably utilize phone communication to address camper issues and follow up with parents as needed

 Risk Management & Policy

  • Develop and uphold camp policies to align with our Safety-Fun-Learning model

  • Ensure adherence to the Safety-Fun-Learning model throughout camp operations

  • Provide oversight and support for camper discipline to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment

  • Coordinate and oversee the American Camp Association (ACA) certification process, working closely with internal teams and camp administrators to ensure adherence to ACA standards and facilitate successful certification outcomes.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum two years of managerial experience in a residential summer camp setting.

  • Proficiency in engaging with and understanding the needs of children, teenagers, and colleagues.

  • Strong communication skills tailored to various age groups.

  • Familiarity with camp management software and office equipment.

  • Patrol Manager: The Patrol Manager is responsible for assisting the Patrol Director in all operational aspects of Highland Mountain Rescue. This individual must be hard working, self motivated, and have a firm understanding of risk management programs and operational procedures, both at Highland Mountain Bike Park and across the resort industry as a whole

  • Training Center Manager: As the Training Center Manager, you'll lead and supervise Training Center staff and coaches. Your responsibilities include setting professional standards, managing daily operations, coordinating lessons, and assisting with staffing and scheduling

  • Lift Manager: The Lift Manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our chair lift, surface lift, and Indoor training center. This position focuses on building and organizing an effective lift operations team while fostering positive relationships with customers and staff and overseeing daily operations. The ideal candidate needs to have a firm understanding of all components involved with the lifts we operate and the ability to plan, execute, and adapt in a fast paced environment.

Summer camps, lessons, retail, food & beverage and a full service bike shop are available. Highland is open April through November.
