About Soldier Hollow 

Soldier Hollow Nordic Center is home to a state-of-the-art biathlon range that was used for the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The facility also features a 31-kilometer trail system for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, as well as mountain biking and hiking in the summer. It is a dynamic multi-use facility focused on developing and growing participation in winter sports in Utah. About the role 

The Tubing Hill Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Soldier Hollow Tubing Hill. Responsible for providing a high level of customer service and safety to all Soldier Hollow tubing guests. Responsible for assisting with training, employee schedules and overall supervision of tubing hill staff. This position is also responsible to coordinate closely with Mountain Operations to ensure that the hill, conveyor lift, and other equipment are properly groomed and maintained at all times.  

Major Tasks and Responsibilities 

  1. Tubing Hill Operations 

  • Oversee and coordinate with Mountain Activities Manager and supervisors regarding staffing included but not limited to:  

  • Staff assignments  

  • Employee accountability  

  • Disciplinary and positive actions  

  • Employee training  

  • Utilize and maintain necessary paperwork and record keeping regarding:  

  • Employee event records  

  • Incident reports  

  • Lead reports  

  • Daily Inspections  

  • Training Reports  

  • Fill in and work any position within the department as needed, including lunch rotations.  

  • Deliver morning safety meeting and track daily reports and inspections, follow up as needed.  

  • Communicate any issues noted in daily reports and inspections to the maintenance supervisor.   

  • Maintain guest and employee safety as a top priority and follow all safety protocols and procedures.    

  • Make quick problem-solving decisions pertaining to customer complaints, operations, and staff.  

  • Assist in training new and returning staff.   

  • Meet with Mountain Activities Management Team.  

  • Safe operation of Soldier Hollow vehicles.  

  • Oversee functionality and day to day operations of the hill. 

  • Review and oversee all daily logbooks. 

 

Lifts 

  • Coordinate with Mountain Ops on daily maintenance of Lift(s). 

  • Maintain snow base at load and unload areas. 

  • Daily checks and repairs to any lifts, cables, runs, equipment 

  • Maintain log of hours for lifts. 

 

Tubes 

  • Maintain Tube Inventory 

  • Maintain proper inflation levels 

  • Patch and repair tubes as needed 

  • Keep logs of good and bad tubes 

 

All other job duties as assigned.  

 

Candidate requirements 

  • Familiar with scheduling, motivating and supervising employees 

  • Customer and Guest service skills a plus 

  • Providing a fun and positive work atmosphere 

  • Ability to work outdoors in all temperature/weather extremes. 

  • Minimum of 18 years of age, but 21 & up preferred 

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds. 

  • Must be able to stand on feet for extended time. 

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

  • Hearing – to converse with others in a normal conversation. 

  • Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting.
