Job Description & Requirements
Position Summary
As VP of Finance & Administration, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial, administrative, and risk management operations of the company, supporting and directing the strategic initiatives to maximize business results. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a sustainable financial business model to drive business growth and stability by leveraging financial management and analysis to effectively communicate data to stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making. Areas of focus include proactive management of cash flow, ensuring accurate and timely operational and financial reporting metrics, detailed financial modeling and analysis to support informed decisions, and the continuous improvement of a financial and operational strategy.
In addition to providing executive level leadership and guidance, this position supervises the Financial, Business Systems (IT), and People & Culture departments with three direct reports.
Work location for this position is on-site in Bellingham, WA.
Key Accountabilities-What You Will Do
Financial Planning / Analysis
· Develop, monitor, and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and operational and capital budgeting processes.
· Develop KPI’s that support the company’s strategic direction and guide the management team to execute the business plan.
· Draft and implement policies and best practices to support achievement of objectives and required standards.
· Perform analysis and forecasting, facilitating measurement and reporting of organizational objectives.
· Study long-range economic trends and project the impact on future growth in sales and market share.
Financial Operations & Administration
· Oversee the Accounting department directing the preparation of all financial and income statements and reports, tax and legal reporting, sales and profit projections.
· Compile and present monthly and annual financial statements to the leadership team interpreting and sharing results in a manner as to tell the story from a financial and operational perspective.
· Manage all third-party vendors in banking, legal services, accounting, insurance, 401k plans, and business systems.
Risk Management & Legal Compliance
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
· Maintain full integrity of all revenues, ensuring organization policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations, are followed.
· Monitor all open legal issues involving the company and coordinate with legal counsel relating to financial and corporate governance compliance and risk assessment matters.
· Ensure appropriate insurance coverage, record-keeping, audit, and compliance.
Business Systems
· Review and approve all IT systems, investments, and service contracts; support and facilitate all IT and business system implementations and modification, provide oversight and monitor internal control systems and cybersecurity practices.
· Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems.
· Stay abreast of industry and technological trends and developments in finance, administration, manufacturing and business systems.
People Operations
· Provide executive level leadership and guidance to the People & Culture operations, assisting with developing and maintaining plans, policies, programs, team events, and initiatives that align with the company’s mission and core values.
· Support the People & Culture Manager with the oversight of the group health plan design and administration of benefits; act as primary fiduciary to the company 401k plans.
· Maintain knowledge of payroll and employment law, human resources and compliance, and talent management regulations and best practices.
Qualifications-What You Bring
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or related area.
· Four years of experience at the Director level or higher with small-medium-sized company or a division of a larger corporation.
· Prior experience with cost accounting in manufacturing / distribution related business.
· Prior experience with managing Patent/Trademark applications and renewals as well as real-estate leases and purchase agreements.
Preferred
· Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations strongly preferred.
· 6+ years’ experience with progressively increasing responsibility scope leading and directing teams in Finance, IT, and HR.
· Prior experience in the outdoor / sporting goods consumer product industry.
· Prior experience in ERP business systems; experience with Microsoft Navision or Business Central a plus.
· Experience with both domestic and offshore purchased products.
· Experience designing/building KPI dashboard reports in Power BI and/or Power Query.
