Company Background: Pocono Whitewater is located in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. We offer class III rafting adventures spring through fall and also have two sister companies, Skirmish Paintball and Pocono Biking. The companies were founded over 40 years ago, are still family owned and operated, and offer a fun work environment for anyone who enjoys working with people.
Job Summary: The Guide Manager is primarily responsible for managing and scheduling river guides. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
= Scheduling, coordinating and managing river guides
= Assisting with the hiring of river guides
= Collecting and maintaining a current guide list including all updated hiring paperwork, information on certifications, availability and contact information
= Disciplining river guides as needed
= Monitoring first aid/CPR certifications and scheduling classes
= Monitoring water levels and weather to make scheduling decisions accordingly
= Working closely with the Operations Manager, River Manager, Truck Crew Manager and Training Coordinator to provide a positive experience to the guests
= Upkeep of raft trip related paperwork such as trip reports, briefing sheets, and accident reports
= Overseeing daily trip staging
= Organizing and managing of company equipment such as lifejackets, wetsuits and booties
= Proactively problem solving to further develop the company and simplify the guest and employee experience
= Guiding the river
= Communicating with guests and addressing challenges in a professional manner
Criteria: The Guide Manager must excel in a high traffic, dynamic environment. Applicants must also:
Have prior experience guiding a river
= Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills
= Work efficiently
= Be an effective coach and manager to direct and indirect staff
= Understand river safety and equipment
= Be willing to work long hours with limited breaks, especially on weekends
= Excel in working with people and solving issues quickly
Schedule: This is a seasonal, full time position from April through October. Weekends and holidays are a must.
Salary: Approximately $25,000 depending on experience.
